About Chinese Japanese People

Chinese Japanese comprise approximately 0.6% of Japan's resident population — approximately 810,000 Chinese nationals (the largest foreign-resident community in Japan as of 2020) plus naturalized Chinese-Japanese estimated at additional 200,000+. The community is heterogeneous, including descendants of pre-1945 Chinese-Japanese migration (including the historical Yokohama Chinatown community established in the 1860s and the Kobe and Nagasaki Chinatowns), substantial post-1972 normalization-era immigration, the post-Tiananmen-era student-and-professional migration of the 1990s-2000s, and the post-2010 mainland Chinese economic-and-educational migration. Includes both Han Chinese (the majority) and ethnic minorities from China (Hui, Uyghur, Mongol, etc., though smaller in number).

Typical Chinese Japanese Phenotypes

Reference for AI generation — hair, eyes, skin, facial structure, build

Phenotype distribution closely matches the broader Han Chinese source population, with Northern Han phenotype distribution similar to Northern Han Chinese (Fitzpatrick II-III, characteristic East Asian features) and Southern Han phenotype distribution similar to Southern Han Chinese (Fitzpatrick III-IV). Phenotypically very similar to Yamato Japanese populations with subtle population-level differences detectable in genetic studies. Hair is uniformly straight, black; facial features track East Asian source populations; eye color is brown to dark brown; build is intermediate.
