About Zainichi Korean People

Zainichi Koreans comprise approximately 0.4% of Japan's resident population — approximately 430,000 South Korean nationals plus 25,000+ Chōsen/Chongryon-affiliated nationals (the latter comprising the descendants of pre-1948 Korean migrants who never elected South or North Korean nationality and remain stateless under Japanese law) plus an additional larger naturalized Korean-Japanese population.
