About Kresh People

When South Sudan became independent in 2011, the Kafia Kingi border was still unsettled, which left Kresh communities on both sides of a disputed line.
Kresh villages farm rather than herd cattle, which sets them apart from the cattle-keeping peoples further east. Sorghum, hunting and food gathered from the surrounding woodland have long fed them. Raga is still the place where the Kresh language, Islam and market life come together.
