Unrecorded; known only through archaeology, including rock art, treatment of the dead and possibly geoglyphs
Lowland (Lower Colorado River) and Upland branches, the upland including Cohonina, Cerbat and Prescott; likely ancestral to Yuman peoples such as the Quechan, Mohave, Cocopah and Hualapai
About Patayan People
The Patayan were the farming and foraging peoples of the lower Colorado River and the desert uplands around it, in what is now western Arizona, southeastern California and northern Baja California, from roughly the 700s CE until Spanish contact in the 1500s. Their descendants are widely thought to include the Yuman-speaking nations of the region, among them the Quechan, Mohave, Cocopah, Hualapai, Havasupai and Yavapai. The name is a label archaeologists gave them. Harold Colton took it in the 1940s from a Yuman word usually glossed as old people, and a rival term, Hakataya, still turns up in the literature. What sets them apart is less a set of monuments than a way of living with a powerful river that kept changing course.
Before the dams, the Colorado flooded each spring and early summer and spread fresh silt across its bottomlands. Lowland Patayan communities planted maize, beans and squash in that wet ground as the water fell back, then filled out the year with fish, mesquite pods and wild seeds. The floods also moved the channel, so river settlements stayed light: brush shelters and ramadas rather than the masonry pueblos of peoples farther east. The same river has since scoured away or buried much of what they left, which is one reason the Patayan remain among the least understood cultures of the Southwest. In the uplands to the east and north, groups archaeologists call Cohonina, Cerbat and Prescott hunted, gathered and farmed on a smaller scale. The Cohonina lived in the plateau country near the Grand Canyon.
Pottery is the clearest trace they left: buff and brown wares thinned with a paddle and anvil, sometimes painted in red. Broken pieces of it let archaeologists follow the Patayan across a wide stretch of desert, including camps along ancient Lake Cahuilla. That lake filled whenever the Colorado turned its flow into the Salton Basin and dried out when the river turned back. The Patayan also sat on trade routes between the Pacific coast and the interior and passed shell inland. Cremation appears to have been common along the river, and the Mohave and Quechan kept the practice into modern times. The giant figures scraped into the desert floor near Blythe, California, are often credited to the Patayan or their descendants, though they are very hard to date.
When Spanish expeditions reached the lower Colorado in 1540, they found Yuman-speaking farmers already working the floodplain. Those nations still live in the same country, and their songs, oral traditions and knowledge of the land show a continuity that pottery alone cannot.

Patayan Body & Anatomy Reference
Per-feature anatomical profile for AI nude generation — Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype
Patayan Boobs & Breasts
Patayan tits and boobs run medium cup, moderate projection — the classic Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian bust profile. Patayan nipples and areolas show medium-brown areolar pigmentation against the copper-to-medium-brown skin tone, with areolar diameter typically in the 30-44mm range and forward-set positioning rather than the the smaller East Asian bust. Patayan breasts trend full and moderate projection, a function of the mesomorph, broader frame in northern Indigenous populations body habitus and the mean adult female BMI 25-28. For anatomically-accurate AI-generated Patayan nudes the render preserves: medium cup, moderate projection shape, 30-44mm areolas with medium-brown pigmentation, and the torso proportions of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype.
Patayan Ass & Hips
Patayan ass and hip morphology presents as medium, moderate-to-full projection — distinctly different from the slim East Asian narrow-hip profile. The Patayan pelvic profile shows medium iliac crests, anchored in the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian skeletal pattern. Patayan butt shots in adult AI imagery should render the medium, moderate-to-full projection silhouette with the mesomorph, broader frame in northern Indigenous populations build and the gluteal-femoral fat distribution typical of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype rather than defaulting to a globally-averaged "ethnic" butt that generic AI generators produce. The hip-to-waist ratio characteristic of Patayan women is one of the identifying features of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian regional phenotype.
Patayan Vagina & Pussy
Patayan pussy and vulvar anatomy presents medium-brown labial pigmentation — consistent with the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype's pigmentation pattern. Patayan pubic hair is typically straight medium-coarse texture, distributed in the inverted-triangle pattern with regional-typical density. AI-generated Patayan nude imagery should preserve the medium-brown labial pigmentation and the straight medium-coarse texture hair texture rather than defaulting to a Western-European pink-and-sparse template. For anatomically-accurate Patayan pussy renders the labial pigmentation and coloration should match the surrounding copper to medium-brown skin tone of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype, with continuous gradient rather than an abrupt color transition.
Patayan Dicks & Penis
Patayan dick and penile anatomy in adult AI generation should anchor on the regional reference data: regional mean ~13cm erect, moderate girth, and medium-brown shaft pigmentation. The Patayan cock profile reflects the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian ancestral population's anthropometric measurements rather than a globally-averaged Western-pornography default. For anatomically-accurate Patayan nude male imagery the shaft pigmentation should track the surrounding copper to medium-brown skin tone, the glans-to-shaft pigmentation transition should be continuous, and the pubic hair pattern should match straight medium-coarse texture texture distributed in the typical inverted-V escutcheon. Circumcision status in Patayan populations varies by religious-cultural tradition rather than ancestral phenotype.
Patayan Body, Curves & Build
Patayan body type and overall build presents as mesomorph, broader frame in northern Indigenous populations, with mean adult female BMI 25-28 — the characteristic Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian habitus. Patayan curves and proportions in adult AI imagery should preserve the regional skeletal frame (height, shoulder-to-hip ratio, limb proportions) rather than scaling to a Western-European mesomorph default. The Patayan nude female form, when rendered with anatomical fidelity, shows the height range, frame width, and adipose distribution pattern typical of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype. Generic AI image generators tend to collapse regional body types into a few default shapes; the EthnicErotic phenotype-anchored approach preserves the Patayan build as its own reference category.
Patayan Skin Tone & Hair Texture
Patayan skin tone falls in the copper to medium-brown (Fitzpatrick III-V) band — the surface signal most often miscalibrated by generic AI nude generators trained on Western-photographic datasets. Patayan hair texture is typically straight 1A, dark-brown to black, often thick and dense, characteristic of the Indigenous Northern American / Algonquian-Iroquoian phenotype. For anatomically-accurate Patayan nude renders the skin should hold the Fitzpatrick band consistently across body surface rather than showing the lighter-than-face body shading that AI generators default to. Patayan hair pigmentation and texture on body, pubic, and head should match across the figure rather than mixing textures (a common AI artefact).
