About Gollo People
The Gollo are one of the small farming peoples of Western Bahr el Ghazal in South Sudan, and they live in and around the town of Wau. Locally they count as part of the Fertit. It was no accident that people fled to the churches. Catholic missions have worked out of Wau since the early twentieth century, and most Gollo today are Christian. For a long time the parish has been where schooling, aid and community life come together. So when the town became dangerous, that is where people went.
