The Datooga (also written Datoga, Tatoga, or Taturu) are a Nilotic agro-pastoralist people of north-central Tanzania, concentrated in the Manyara and Singida regions around the highlands south and east of Lake Eyasi. Fiercely independent and historically wary of outsiders, they are among the oldest continuously pastoralist populations of the East African Rift and are famed among their neighbors as skilled cattle-keepers and metalworkers.
Society and subsistence
