About White Honduran People
White Hondurans comprise approximately 2% of the population per the 2013 INE census. The community traces ancestry to Spanish colonial settlement and to 19th-20th c. immigration. The Lebanese-Syrian-Honduran community (Turcos in colloquial Honduran usage, descended from late-19th and early-20th c. Levantine Christian immigration, ~200,000+) is politically and economically prominent, with several Honduran presidents (Carlos Roberto Flores Facussé, Juan Orlando Hernández, Xiomara Castro's husband Manuel Zelaya) of Levantine descent. Concentrated in Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, and the Bay Islands. The Bay Islander community of British/Caymanian descent is partially counted under white-Honduran in some surveys.
