The largest sub-component is the Nicaraguan-Costa Rican migrant population, which comprised approximately 9% of the country's total resident population per the 2011 census (the largest immigrant community in any Central American country in proportional terms); many but not all of these migrants self-identified under broader categories rather than as 'Nicaraguan-Costa Rican' specifically.
