The Triton is usually placed near the salt lakes and the Gulf of Gabes in southern Tunisia, and north and west of there the land does rise toward the better watered Tell, where grain farming has a very long history.
Their language went unrecorded, but it was almost certainly an early form of Berber, the Afroasiatic branch still spoken from Siwa to the Atlantic.
