Russian Tatars comprise approximately 3.9% of the Russian population — the second-largest ethnic group in Russia. Concentrated in Tatarstan (where Tatars comprise ~53% of the regional population) plus Bashkortostan, Volga and Ural regions, plus substantial Tatar diaspora across the former Soviet states (Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Belarus, plus globally).
