Their religion was the pre-Christian Slavic one, and they drop out of the record before the baptism of Rus in 988, so they were never really part of Christian Kiev. What is remembered of them is mostly a war. They refused tribute to the Kievan princes, and Igor's commander Sveneld sat outside their town of Peresechen for three years before it fell, around 940. Their country became the southern rim of Kievan Rus and later the Ukrainian steppe frontier, and whatever population stayed put sits somewhere inside the ancestry of Ukrainians today.
