Alternating Partners

Description: One receiving partner between two who take turns rather than working at once, swapping on a rhythm while the waiting partner stays in contact by hand or mouth. It is the most common three-person arrangement in practice and the least often given a name, because at any instant it looks like an ordinary two-person position.

Variations: Any two-person position can be the live half; the swap is what makes it this arrangement. The waiting partner at the head, the hip, or simply alongside.

On camera: The swap is the reason to shoot it, so takes run long enough to include at least two rotations. Wide profile keeps the waiting partner in frame, which is what signals the arrangement.

AI design considerations: Two figures actively engaged and a third clearly present but not in contact at the pelvis. The idle figure's posture is what tells the viewer this is a rotation rather than a double.
